The Cricket World Cup 2019 experience as a Suffolk Cricketeer!

July 22, 2019

Juliet Wiles who is a  Level 2 Coach, Manager and Captain of Shotley Peninsula Ladies Team, and Coach of Juniors at Edwardstone Cricket Club has had the most amazing experience as a 2019 World Cup Cricketeer!

Attending South Africa v Pakistan, Pakistan v Bangladesh and Lords Finals Day Juliet wanted to express a snap shot of the emotions felt from having the amazing opportunity.

“Driving back to Suffolk listening to a ‘5 Live’ phone in and a live report from the party with the England players, fans and School children at The Oval. 30,000 watched the game live, 5 million people watched the match on Channel 4 and 3 million on Sky.”
“I’m struck by what a significant day for English cricket it was, for the history of cricket, there is unlikely to be another match like it!”

“What next? How to build on the achievement? Lots of conversations to be had on how to inspire more people of all ages to get involved in this game.  As to ‘stepping out of the comfort zone’ all those months ago, I have no regrets. Amazing experiences with a huge number of people from around the world, another uniform, lovely colleagues, an increase in confidence and the realisation again that you create what you believe, the realisation of a dream, and the opening on doors to adventure. So worth every single moment of ‘what if’…. now I wonder… what’s next?!”
