Suffolk Young Cricketers – 2022/23 Trials

June 10, 2022
Suffolk Cricket are delighted to confirm that the trial process for the Suffolk Young Cricketers intake of 2022/23 is now open. With an all new structure, we’ve decided to open registration earlier than usual and close the process on the 31st July 2022.

This is for children in year 7 and above from September 2022.

Player Registration forms can be found here

This year, parents are asked to help fill in the nitty gritty of the form but then allow the player trialling to fill in the ‘cricketing element’. the forms will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Along with the form, players will need to share a video of themselves batting, bowling or keeping. All players must fill out the form and send their videos (even if you are in a current SYC squad).

Batting Video – no more than 2 minutes.
Please ensure that the video clearly shows the batter, head to toe and where the ball bounces. A link to an example video can be found here.

Bowling Video – no more than 9 balls
Please ensure you take 6 balls from the start of the run up and 3 balls from the side (chest side). A link to an example video can be found here.

Wicket keeping – 12 balls
6 catches from the front, and 6 from the side.

Video Support Days
27th and 28th July – SYC coaches will be available for short videoing slots to help you film if required. No coaching or assessing will take place in these slots. Each slot will be 30 min long and have multiple players. Further details and venue TBC.

Sharing of videos
Videos should be sent to Andy Northcote either by email to anorthcote@suffolkcricket.org or via WhatsApp on 07717 772232.

These videos will be solely used for the purpose of the trial process and stored on Suffolk Cricket’s portal. Only our Trial Assessors will have access. If your child is unsuccessful this video will be deleted and if your child is successful, we will share this with their relevant coaches.
