Safeguarding updates

March 13, 2024

From Graham Moss…

I have received some useful updates from ECB safeguarding team which I would like to share with you and have attached the relevant attachments to this article. These may assist you as the season approaches in ensuring your club is up to date and promoting your role and safeguarding within your Club,

DBS Update Service

There continues to be confusion regarding the update service, due to the two separate emails that people receive regarding the next steps. Unfortunately, the ECB cannot change the government automated email that states, “do nothing”. They have therefore tried to help illustrate what is required via the attached “DBS Update Service”.  This includes images of the two emails that someone would receive and a brief explanation of what to do.

To clarify ECB DBS only last 1 year and in order to be rechecked every year the individual must log in annually and confirm they are happy to be rechecked.

Also do not forgot that you can check via SHMS as to whether those involved in regulated activity within your club are compliant. If you are not the person  responsible for this within your club please ensure you check with that person who will be able to provide you with this information.

Club Posters

The ECB have added some additional documents to the Kit Bag, but would like to draw your attention to the new poster templates that clubs can use to support CSO visibility (as well as point someone in the right direction should they have a concern). I’ve attached them to this article for your ease. It can be personalised with your names and contact numbers as well as include your club logo.

These can be to displayed e.g. on the noticeboard, in changing rooms and/or on toilets doors etc.
