Sudbury and Haverhill ahead of the Suffolk T20 Cup Final

The Sudbury Talbots took the honours in the thrilling finale against the Haverhill Knights to win the Suffolk T20 Cup held at Bury St Edmunds CC.

Both sides reaching the final for the first time served up a treat with Sudbury squeezing home by just two runs. Batting first Sudbury set what proved to be a match winning total of 165-5 from their 20 overs. Suffolk captain Adam Mansfield top scored with 38 support by Darren Batch who made 33.  Pick of the bowlers for the Knights was Harry Harding taking 3-18 from his 3 overs.

In response Haverhill were set a fine platform from club captain Adam Dellar who blasted his way to 50 not out from just 38 deliveries. Tight bowling from Sudbury bought the game back in the balance that then tipped in Sudbury’s favour when a further 17 was needed from just 7 balls.  However, consecutive sixes from Ben Wilkins and Tom Bonham brought the game to a knife-edge.  It was Sudbury though who held their nerve through Ben Reece taking two wickets in the final over to conclude a fantastic game of cricket.

Earlier in the day Haverhill and Sudbury defeated Copdock & Old Ipswichian and Felixstowe & Corinthians respectively in the semi-finals, with the seaside club beating Copdock in the plate final.
