Women’s Softball Cricket

We host a number of different softball opportunities across Suffolk for female softball cricketers:

1. 2023 Inaugural Women’s Softball League

    • We will be launching our first ever Women’s Softball Cricket League this season with women and girls aged 13 or over participating across the county
    • The league will take the format of coordinated group festivals, with the winners of each receiving local cups, culminating in a finals day where all participating teams will get to play against each other to be crowned county champions!
      • County champions do not have to have won their local round so it is all to play for on finals day!
    • Teams will attend a minimum of 3 league festivals, playing numerous pairs, 8-a-side softball matches at each

2. Women’s Softball Festivals

    • Women’s Softball Cricket Festivals are a great way to get more women and girls introduced to cricket, with over 100 new female players taking part in Women’s Softball Cricket Festivals across Suffolk in summer 2022
    • Softball festivals are open to all abilities of cricketer, however, predominantly focus on complete beginners and on the enjoyment of the game
    • The ECB player guide provides further information on the aim and purpose of these festivals. Rules for different possible formats for your club festival can be found below
    • For more information on hosting a women’s softball festival or how to get involved yourself, please visit the ECB Women’s Softball Cricket webpage or contact Lara Neild for information on clubs near you

3. Girls Softball Festivals

    • 2023 Girls softball cricket across Suffolk will take the form of softball festivals
    • Softball festivals will be open to any club with a girls team (a group of girls who want to play). Clubs will be open to hosting festivals for local clubs to attend, supported by the county, to encourage all girls to take up cricket and enjoy playing the sport
    • Clubs for whom they have lots of girls will attend numerous festivals – there is no limit on attendance to festivals!

4. Sunrisers Girls Softball Festival

    • Suffolk Cricket combine with Sunrisers to host a girls cricket festival once a year alongside the Sunrisers teams
    • Sunrisers host a fixture with members from their Emerging Player Programme players, Academy Players, and First team squad attending and/or playing on the day
    • The clubs and girls attending have the opportunity to watch the cricket, meet the players. and find some stash! The day is a great showcase of female cricket in our region!
