Women’s Big Cricket Month
June 1, 2021Women’s Big Cricket Month begins today, June 1st, and we are encouraging everyone to get involved!
Thoughout the month across Suffolk there will be events going on to encourage as many women and girls to get involved in cricket as possible. With the current trend in women and girls cricket on an exponential rise, Women’s Big Cricket Month is a great opportunity to expose, share, and celebrate the amazing work that everyone in Suffolk does for the growth of the female game.
Why should I get involved?
“It’s easy to forget sometimes how far the women’s game has come in England and Wales. Cricket is now a fully professional pursuit for more women than ever before. And at the grassroots, we are seeing really encouraging numbers of young girls signing up to All Stars and Dynamos.
We’ve got more women’s cricket on TV this summer than ever before and on 21 July we’re launching The Hundred, a brand-new competition with unprecedented reach. But we must want more, we must keep enabling more women and girls to play, follow or attend cricket, and we must continue working to make our game for everyone. By signing up to Women’s Big Cricket Month, you can help spread that message and keep women’s and girls‘ cricket on it’s exciting journey.”

What’s on in Suffolk?
This month there will be many events taking place across the county, including youth and adult softball festivals, family cricket days, and a whole host more!
Keep your eyes peeled on social media as a daily spotlight on clubs, players, volunteers, coaches, schools, and leagues will be posted to unmask the amazing work that goes on both on and off the pitch to make Suffolk women and girls cricket a success!
I hope that this month will encourage as many women and girls to get involved in cricket. Whether that is playing softball with friends in the park, scoring a match for your local club, or playing for a competitive side on a weekend – it will be great to see lots of women and girls taking part in all aspects of cricket!
