Yoxford CC

Yoxford Cricket Club is located in east Suffolk and boasts girls age group cricketers from U11 and U13 along with a women’s softball team. Martin Trimby runs Yoxford women and girls cricket and is extremely supportive of all the women and girls at the club. He has provided this summary of Yoxford’s season so far and what events and activities they are hosting at Yoxford to encourage more women and girls to engage in cricket.

 

 

Despite the challenging start we’ve already played multiple girls matches at U11 softball and U11 hardball against are local friends at Melton.

A number of that team will be representing county teams in the coming month with Grace Gurr, Evie Tassell & Kira Trimby involved with Suns & Risers and Connie Tassell and Erin Trimby (debut) selected for U11s v Essex.
The U13 Girls game was a first ever for Yoxford at this level even though we had some U11s in the team to make up the 8!

 

On a more social level we’ve started our Weekly Women’s Softball coaching on Sunday mornings after All Stars and although attendance has been modest (about half a dozen) they have all had great fun and we’ve had other enquires and interest to join once other winter sports wrap up. So we hope we can get this into double figures next month and then continue to expand from there.

 

For Women’s Cricket Month our main target is to run our First Women’s Softball Festival on Wednesday 7th July (giving us as much time to use the whole month to advertise and continue to attract new starters to our weekly sessions). We hope we can fill 4 teams from our local area, but if it’s clear we can’t then we’ll look to invite other clubs to reach that target 20-30 participants.
