Suffolk play second fiddle on day two
September 6, 2021SUFFOLK have it all to do if they are to win their National Counties Cricket Association Championship Play-Off Final.
Opponents Oxfordshire gained the ascendency from the start of day two, dismissing both overnight not out batsmen inside the opening two overs after Suffolk resumed their first innings on 57 for 2.
Joe Gatting (22) and Josh Cantrell, who was eighth out for a well-crafted 49, rebuilt the innings with a sixth-wicket stand of 57.
However, when Cantrell was bowled in the 66th over Suffolk were 154 for 8, but they rallied through Tom Rash (30) and 34 from Adam Mansfield, to reach 213 all out – 35 runs behind Oxfordshire’s first innings total.
Oxfordshire’ openers then put on 74 before being parted, and they closed the day on 115 for 2 – a lead of 150 entering day three of the four-day contest at Tring Park CC in Hertfordshire.
