JACOB Marston scored 95 not out as Copdock & Old Ipswichian CC defeated the PCA England Legends by six wickets with two balls to spare.

They successfully chased down the visitors’ score of 177 for 8 in Friday’s T20 match before a good-sized crowd bathed in sunshine at Old London Road.

After the PCA England Legends won the toss and elected to bat first, openers Mark Stoneman (38) and Nick Compton (45) put on 80 for the first wicket and Rikki Clarke weighed in with 37.

Fergus Atkins claimed 3 for 35, while Copdock Ladies’ player Amelie Clarke impressed with figures of 3-0-15-1.

Former South African international Nicky Boje scored 34 in Copdock’s reply, before Marston steered his side home, making 95 off just 58 balls. Phil DeFreitas took 2 for 38.

The match, which was sponsored by Turners Hyundai, was in aid of raising the £10,000 required to put a permanent open-side canopy on the front of the club’s pavilion.
