Opening T20 match is a wash-out

April 24, 2023

SUFFOLK’S opening NCCA T20 Group 3 fixture of the season lasted less than 16 overs.

The first match of the double-header versus Cambridgeshire at Ipswich School was abandoned with Suffolk 73 for 7 off 15.5 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat.

Adam Mansfield (pictured above), who was skippering Suffolk for the first time since returning as the county’s white-ball captain, top-scored with 23 off 36 balls.

No further play was possible due to the persistent rain on Sunday, meaning Suffolk and Cambridgeshire were awarded two points each – one for each match.

Suffolk travel to Woodhall Spa on Sunday to face Lincolnshire in their second group game of the season, before facing Norfolk at Ipswich School the following day on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st.
