Suffolk at home in NCCA Trophy Quarter-Finals
June 25, 2023SUFFOLK will host Northumberland in the quarter-finals of this season’s NCCA Trophy.
The match will take place at Sudbury CC next Sunday, July 2nd, start 11am.
Cheshire and Shropshire went into Sunday’s final Group 3 match at Toft CC with both sides in with a chance of topping the table ahead of Suffolk.
The winners would have knocked Suffolk off top spot if they could improve their net run-rate to better Suffolk’s 0.59.
Shropshire, batting first, scored 336 for 7 in their 50 overs, with Cheshire reaching 18 for 1 from 3.3 overs before rain forced the match to be abandoned, meaning they were both awarded one point.
Suffolk, who won three of their four games, finished top with six points, with Cheshire ending runners-up on five points thanks to a superior run-rate than Shropshire.
Northumberland finished runners-up in Group 1 with three wins from their four matches, losing only to group winners Cumbria by 74 runs in their final match.
Suffolk Secretary Toby Pound said: “Following today’s abandonment between Cheshire and Shropshire, we are delighted to have finished top of Group 3, securing a home tie in the quarter final against Northumberland, to be played at Sudbury CC next Sunday.
“Our players will be relieved not to have to make a long trip north and we know that Sudbury will do a great job in staging the match.”
