Lashings World XI returning to Suffolk

July 10, 2023

THE renowned Lashings World XI are to return to Suffolk next year.

The team of international cricket legends, who played at St Joseph’s College in Ipswich last month, will be coming back in 2024.

Lashings will play the college’s 1st XI in a T20 match on Friday, May 31st.

A similar legends roster are likely to feature, including Saqlain Mushtaq, Courtney Walsh, Yasir Arafat, Saj Mahmood, Owais Shah and Asad Shafiq, with commentary from Henry Blofeld.

Former West Indies skipper Walsh, who claimed 519 Test wickets in his career, was the star attraction when Lashings defeated the college by 119 runs last month.

Asad Shafiq, the ex-Pakistan player who was making his debut for Lashings, top-scored with 89 runs from 58 balls in their 234 for 3, before the college replied with 115 for 9. Asad Shafiq is pictured above hitting out during his innings.

The match will follow a corporate three-course lunch at the college in Belstead Road, Ipswich hosted by the Lashings players.

There will be a charity auction with prizes and signed memorabilia on offer.

Table, individual lunch and general admission tickets are available.
