Four ex-England captains to speak in Suffolk

September 23, 2023

FOUR former England cricket captains will be visiting Suffolk in the coming weeks.

Mike Gatting, Graham Gooch, David Gower and Michael Vaughan will all be speaking at events in the county.

Gatting and Gooch will be teaming up to appear together at a Shane Warne Tribute Dinner organised by Copdock & Old Ipswichian CC.

This is taking place at Venue 16 in Ipswich on the evening of Saturday, October 7th and is almost sold out.

The evening, which is in aid of club funds and has been organised by Copdock & OI president and ex-Essex bowler Ray East, is almost sold-out, with around 250 guests attending.

The few remaining tickets, priced £45 each or £450 for a table of ten, are available from Copdock & OI CC.

Three days later, on the evening of Tuesday, October 10th, Gooch is back in Ipswich at the Corn Exchange hosting ‘An Innings with Michael Vaughan’.

Gooch previously hosted a similar event at the same venue with Ian Botham in May last year. This year’s event is close to being a sell-out but tickets, priced £29.50 each, are still available via the Ipswich Theatres website.

Then on the evening of Saturday, November 11th Lord David Gower will be the guest speaker at the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Cricket Championship Presentation Dinner.

This is again being held at Venue 16 and is open to all clubs and their guests.

Finally, Suffolk Cricket’s main sponsors Magnus Group are hosting a Sporting Lunch at Venue 16 on Friday, November 24th when Vaughan will be joined by former England player and fellow TV Commentator Phil Tufnell.

The lunch is in aid of Suffolk Mind, East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH) and the Ipswich Town Foundation and only a few tickets are still available.
