Iceni Women’s Premier League 2024
December 3, 20242024 saw a brand-new women’s premier cricket league in the East, the Iceni Women’s Premier League. 4 out of the 6 teams were from Suffolk, which is fantastic. Mildenhall Ladies 1 st XI were crowned champions with Woolpit CC a very close second place – just two points separated the sides. Throughout the course of the season, 30 games were played with over 250+ players registered across the league.
There were three awards presented for the Batter, Bowler and Fielder of the Year. The 2024 season Batter of the Year was awarded to Emily Cunningham from Woolpit CC, who scored 629 runs throughout the course of the season. Bowler of the Year was presented to Isabella James from Thriplow CC, who took 23 wickets. Fielder of the Year was awarded to Livi Hyndman, who took 10 catches/run outs during the season.
An Iceni Select XI played against an Essex Select XI at Chelmsford. This is an annual event for the two Premier Leagues and this summer, the Iceni Select XI came out on top. The scorecard for this game can be found here.
