Holmes to make competitive debut

April 19, 2025

TAMSIN Holmes will make her competitive debut as Suffolk Women travel to Oxfordshire on Sunday for their opening match in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

Holmes, who has played all the way through the county age groups, claimed 1 for 31 from her four overs in last Sunday’s T20 friendly versus Cambridgeshire at Bury St Edmunds CC.

The match was abandoned due to rain after the visitors had posted 146 for 8 in their innings at the Victory Ground.

Homes is included in a 12-strong squad for the game at Kingston Bagpuize CC, starting at 10.30am, in what will be Suffolk’s first Tier 3 fixture under the new domestic structure.

Head coach Johan de Silva, who will be in charge for his first competitive match, said: “It’s been a brilliant winter working with such a lovely and enthusiastic group of players.

“We started positively in the field against Cambridgeshire in our warm-up game last week, and are looking to continue this away in Oxfordshire against a strong opposition.

“It is great to have strong availability for this game, meaning we have had to leave some promising players out.

“Here’s hoping the side are able to play our positive brand of cricket and be on the right side of the result on Sunday! The team and I am super excited to get the season underway!”
