U18 Girls record ten-wicket win
July 3, 2025SUFFOLK won their ECB Girls’ U18 County One-Day Knock-Out Cup Second Round tie versus Norfolk by 10 wickets.
Suffolk won the toss and elected to bowl at the Victory Ground, home of Bury St Edmunds CC, on Saturday.
Izzy Gebhard and Alice Nickell opened the bowling with Gebhard taking a wicket in her first over.
Both bowled well at the start of the innings, but with a quick outfield and short boundaries Norfolk scored quickly during the power play. This did not phase Suffolk who stuck to their game plan.
Captain Megan Haynes made a double change to the bowling bringing on Erin Berry and Daisy Ditcham, which brought an immediate result when Berry picked up the wicket of Demetriou with her first ball.
Berry got her second in the 15th over, with Ditcham also taking two wickets during her spell including a wicket maiden.
Combined Berry and Ditcham not only took four wickets but also restricted Norfolk to just 37 runs off their ten overs.
With the score 87 for 5, Haynes then turned to her spin duo of Callie Bradbury and Molly Talbot.
Both Bradbury and Talbot picked up a wicket in their first overs with Talbot taking the catch off Bradbury’s bowling and Bradbury returning the favour taking the catch off Talbot’s bowling.
Bradbury took a second wicket, caught behind by Charlotte Anderson, and then took her third wicket with a caught and bowled to reduced Norfolk to 109 for 9 after 23 overs.
Talbot finished off the Norfolk innings with Anderson once again taking the catch as Norfolk were all out for 122 over 25.3 overs
Chasing a target of 123, Charlotte Anderson and Henrietta Croot opened the batting for Suffolk.
Anderson, maintaining her excellent run of form, scored an unbeaten 77, with Croot contributing an unbeaten 27 to see Suffolk chase the target down in just 19.5 overs.
Suffolk will now host Surrey in the quarter-finals at Ipswich CC on Sunday, July 20th.
