Rob Jones leaving to a new role

July 31, 2025

After nearly 17 years Rob Jones will be leaving Suffolk Cricket at the end of September. Rob was given an opportunity alongside Tom Huggins by Martin Taylor, to become community coaches in and around Ipswich, coaching in many schools in the area. Tom eventually moved onto become Essex’s batting coach, and coach in the Hundred whilst in 2010 Rob became Lead Officer for Suffolk.

Rob commented “I would like to thank everyone that I’ve worked with, from the Board to the Development Team and all the volunteers. I’m extremely fortunate to be paid for what was originally my hobby and I hope that I’ve been able to provide some advice and support over the years.

Suffolk Cricket have a hard working and experienced Development Team and I
know they will continue to support recreational cricket in the county.”
Rob will be taking up a part-time role with Essex Cricket in the Community starting in October. This will be to primarily provide support to volunteers, clubs, leagues etc in North Essex and liaise with County Boards across the East Region to share “best practice” and help as required.
