Copdock Ladies preparing for national final

August 15, 2025

A WOMEN’S team from Suffolk are preparing for their biggest-ever match.

Copdock & Old Ipswichian Ladies will face Gunnersbury Women’s CC in the Vitality Women’s Club T20 National Final on Sunday, start 3pm.

The final is taking place at Sir Paul Getty’s iconic ground at Wormsley, which is set in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire.

Copdock’s run to the final started with wins locally against Easton and then Melton, where consecutive centuries by Immy Sidhu – one of the 21-year-old Sidhu triplets in the team – propelled them to victory.

After a concession by Stony Stratford, a showdown in the Midlands Regional final followed at home to Dorridge from Solihull.

Copdock fought incredibly hard to successfully defend 98 on a ground known for its fast run-scoring to emerge winners by just three runs.

Victory teed up a National Semi-Final against Sessay CC from North Yorkshire at the picturesque setting of Denby CC in the Peak District.

Sessay are a strong side who had reached this stage several times before, but Copdock managed to restrict their powerful hitters to 112 for 4, before securing a six-wicket win in the 19th over.

It was another hard-fought win for this talented and resilient group, many of whom play for the Suffolk junior girls and senior women’s teams.

Gunnersbury Women’s CC from North London, who are chasing their fourth national title, now await in Sunday’s final and will provide tough opposition.

Paul Hollis, Copdock’s head of ladies’ cricket, said: “I could not be prouder of this group of players as well as the whole girls’ and ladies’ section at Copdock.

“Our girls’ under 13s, under 15s and under 19s have also enjoyed great success in recent years, and I am excited to see how this incredible achievement by our first team will inspire all the younger players coming through.

“My thanks go to all the parents, coaches and staff at Copdock for the support they give all of our players and I can’t wait to see the first team putting in another fantastic performance and enjoying a wonderful day at Wormsley.”

Copdock & Old Ipswichian squad: Poppy Sidhu (capt), Hannah Chapple (wkt), Annis Cousins, Daisy Ditcham, Izzy Gebhard, Lalia Hollis, Frankie Hughes, Arathy Jayapal, Liv Locke, Harriet Pettit, Imogen Sidhu, Isobel Sidhu.
