Vicki excited about new role
November 10, 2025NEW Suffolk Cricket Ltd Operations Manager Vicki Askew is excited about the prospect of leading a team of dedicated and passionate people.
Vicki, who has a wealth of experience around regional sport, governance and sport development, starts her new role on Monday.
She replaces Rob Jones, who recently stepped down after 15 years running Suffolk Cricket on a day-to-day basis.
Vicki, who was born and raised in Suffolk, has always had a passion for sport, and started working as a multi-sport coach at the age of just 17.
She then worked within the local authority in Norfolk to manage and develop some dual use leisure facilities, before spending three years working for a crime reduction charity to use sport as a tool to engage and motivate young people at risk of anti-social behaviour and social exclusion.
Vicki (pictured above) was at Active Suffolk (Suffolk Sport as it was then) as the Sports Development Manager leading a team of staff to provide opportunities for more people to be involved in sport within Suffolk. She headed up the delivery of National programmes and local partnership working to ensure a growth in participation.
She then moved to Hertfordshire FA to take up the role of Chief Executive, overseeing all aspects of football activities within the county. Her role involved leading a team of staff, and working closely with the Board and local communities to develop football for all.
Vicki said: “Having had a career break for five years, I have been working directly with sports groups and clubs to make a difference in their local communities for the last year, which reminded me of the impact that being involved in community sport or a club can have on people.
“When I saw the role at Suffolk Cricket, I was enthusiastic to apply so that I can use my experience and knowledge to lead the progress and opportunities for the Suffolk Community to be involved in a game we all love.
“I am really excited to get back to leading a team of dedicated and passionate people, and ensure that we can provide the best possible opportunities for all communities in Suffolk.”
