Shrubshall to stand down as Chair

December 2, 2025

NICK Shrubshall said the biggest change during his time as Chair of Suffolk Cricket Ltd has been the rise of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket across the county.

The 66-year-old, who was elected as Chair in December 2015, is standing down at next week’s Annual General Meeting after ten years in the role.

Shrubshall, who was born into a sporting family of lifelong Charlton Athletic supporters in Kent and lived in Brisbane in Australia for four years, has held a love for cricket since around the age of eight.

He played wherever his work took him, including in the Huddersfield League and Kent League, before moving to Suffolk in 2006.

Shrubshall (pictured above) played for Melton St Audry’s for 15 years, captaining most of the teams and was the club’s Chair between 2015 and 2021.

He said of his time as Chair of Suffolk Cricket Ltd: “The biggest change has undoubtedly been the rise of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket across the county as well as regionally and nationally, which is great to see!

“My greatest achievement has probably been guiding the county through the pandemic and placing Suffolk in a strong financial position with a team that can move the county to the next level.

“Alongside that, I would say that working with the ECB had its challenges but we are well respected, particularly within Women’s and Girls’ cricket and across the region.”

The AGM of Suffolk Cricket Ltd will take place on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at Copdock & Old Ipswichian CC on Old London Road, Copdock, start 7pm. Suffolk Cricket Ltd members are welcome to attend.
