Copdock to host NCCA Trophy Final
December 11, 2025COPDOCK & Old Ipswichian CC will be ‘very proud’ to stage the NCCA Trophy Final next season.
The club, who have regularly hosted Suffolk fixtures for more than 30 years, have been invited by the NCCA to host the final of the 50-over competition on Sunday, July 19th.
It will be the first time that the 50-over final will be held at a ground in the county. It used to be staged at Lord’s, where Suffolk won the competition for the only time in the history in the 2007 season.
More recently it has been staged at Sir Paul Getty’s ground at Wormsley in Buckinghamshire, but last season was played at Chester Boughton Hall CC in Cheshire.
Martin Taylor, the club’s head of facilities and lead groundsman, has been involved in discussions with the NCCA for some time about the possibility of the final taking place at the Old London Road venue.
He said: “We are very proud and Suffolk Cricket should be very proud too. This will hopefully help to put Suffolk Cricket even more on the map.”
The news means Suffolk, who reached the semi-final of last season’s competition before losing to Shropshire, will have an extra incentive to get to next season’s final.
The Suffolk side regularly features several players from Copdock & Old Ipswichian CC, whose ground was first used to host a full county fixture in 1992 when Suffolk faced Norfolk in a two-day match in the Minor Counties Championship.
Richard Logan, operations director of the NCCA, said: “The finals are always the highlight of the NCCA year. The Championship final will return to West Bromwich Dartmouth for the last time, having spent a number of successful years there.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Copdock. We have some exciting plans for the One-Day Final. Martin and the team there have been great, and I’m sure this will be a huge success.”
Suffolk’s fixtures for the 2026 season are expected to be confirmed soon, but they know they will be in the same NCCA Trophy group as Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Shropshire.
