Nick appointed to new part-time role
May 25, 2026NICK Garnham has been appointed Fundraising and Marcomms Officer of Suffolk Cricket Ltd.
The new part-time role will involve securing additional investment into cricket in Suffolk through sponsorship acquisition, commercial partners and grant applications.
Nick (pictured above) will also be responsible for developing and delivering a marketing and communications strategy to allow Suffolk Cricket Ltd to effectively communicate with key partners, clubs and the communities of Suffolk.
The 64-year-old, who will combine the role with working part-time in a similar position at Suffolk FA, has been involved with cricket in the county for more than 50 years.
He played for Copdock CC as well as holding various administrative roles at the club prior to the merger with Old Ipswichian CC.
Nick has reported on the Suffolk Men’s 1st XI side for 40 years, initially while working as a sports journalist with the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich (Evening) Star newspapers.
He has edited the county handbook for the past 15 years and been a committee member of the county cricket club since 2018 in the role of media manager.
Nick said: “I can’t wait to get started! I am looking forward to further raising the profile of cricket in the county by building relationships with existing sponsors, stakeholders and partners as well as developing new ones.
“Diversifying revenue streams will be paramount to enable Suffolk Cricket Ltd to continue to grow and flourish in the future and offer new opportunities for the community of Suffolk.
“It’s an exciting time to be starting with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in this country next month. Women’s and girls’ cricket in this country have really taken off since England won the 2017 edition of the 50-over World Cup, also held in this country.
“Fingers crossed as the host nation that England can have another good tournament to further raise interest and participation levels in the game, not just as players but coaches, officials and administrators too.”
Vicki Askew, Head of Cricket Operations, said: “With the addition of Nick to the Suffolk Cricket team, we will really be able to promote Cricket within the county and be better at sharing some of the success stories and opportunities that cricket provides for people.
“The impact that Cricket can have on both individuals and communities is significant, and we want to celebrate this.
“Nick brings with him years of valuable experience in media and marketing, coupled with a long-standing involvement and passion for Cricket. I look forward to welcoming Nick to the team.”
Nick will take up his new role on June 1st.
