T20 World Cup events across the county
June 10, 2026A NUMBER of events are planned across Suffolk to celebrate the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in this country.
The eagerly-anticipated tournament swings into action on Friday as hosts England face Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, start 6.30pm.
Suffolk Women’s & Girls Officer Amy Richford said events are scheduled across the county to mark the tournament but also to capitalise on girls who are inspired to play.
Amy said: “We have scheduled a number of watch parties for the Women’s World Cup. The first one will be at Walsham-le-Willows on Friday, where they have a large external screen for spectators to watch the opening match between England and Sri Lanka.
“There is also a four-team U12 girls’ softball festival happening that evening, and a pizza van will be on site. Bardwell CC are also hosting two watch parties on June 24th and 27th.
“Clubs have been asked to host their own parties throughout the World Cup and a competition has been set up to encourage everyone to celebrate together.
“We also have several festivals scheduled across the summer for women and girls.”
The following events are scheduled:
June 12th – Walsham-le-Willows CC, U12 Girls softball
June 27th – Melton CC, U12 Girls softball
July 24th – Bury St Edmunds CC, U12 & U15 softball
August 9th – Tuddenham CC, U18 Girls’ Softball for All
September 6th – Bury St Edmunds CC, Women’s Softball Celebration Day
Amy added: “Bury St Edmunds CC, St Margarets CC and Mellis CC are also hosting some Girls’ Only Dynamos sessions where girls can try cricket throughout the World Cup and afterwards.
“All clubs are encouraged to host their own women’s and girls’ taster events to encourage those inspired by the World Cup.
“We are hosting a number of school events including girls’ softball tournaments. A number of high schools are now forging good links with their local clubs, so we hope to see these girls taking a step towards club cricket.”
