Women confirmed as champions
August 17, 2026A COMMANDING display saw Suffolk Women clinch promotion to Division One in the Metro Bank One Day Cup Women’s League 3.
They defeated second-placed Lincolnshire by seven wickets at Sudbury CC on Sunday to make it four wins out of four in Division 2B.
Captain Amelie Clarke said it felt ‘absolutely brilliant’ to win promotion.
“It is nice to win the league with a game in hand and go into that game and think we can go and show our absolute best, especially as it’s Norfolk, so it is a nice local game, which we are looking forward to,” she said.
Suffolk, who won the toss and elected to field first, had their visitors in deep trouble as they were reduced to 79 for 6 inside the opening 19 overs.
It was at that point that skipper Eloise Hall joined Abigail Thorley and they set about resurrecting the innings, adding 69 runs over the next 14 overs.
Grace Poole, who had removed the top three, struck again to dismiss Hall for 29, before Jasmine Thomas put on 52 in ten overs with Thorley.
Maddy Reynolds bowled Thorley for 84 off 107 deliveries as Lincolnshire were all out for 227 with nine balls remaining.
Poole, who is on loan from Kent and currently playing for Woolpit CC, finished with fine figures of 10-0-37-4, while Amber Bradnam picked up 10-0-43-3 and Izzy Sidhi 9-2-34-2.

After losing Clarke with 18 on the board, Tamsin Holmes (19 off 33) and Immy Sidhu shared a second-wicket stand of 63 inside ten overs.
Sidhu and Vani Dhanuka added exactly 50, before Sidhu fell lbw for 68 off 77 with 11 fours.
