Girls aiming to be double winners
August 18, 2026IPSWICH School Girls’ Under-15 side could be crowned double national champions next month.
They will face Millfield School in the Semi-Final of The Cricket Paper National School’s 100-Ball Cup on Tuesday, September 8th at 10am.
They have already defeated Framlingham College, Brentwood School, Gresham’s School and Brighton Aldridge Community Academy to reach the semi-final.
Ipswich School will be looking to build upon their success of winning the U15 ECB National Indoor title in May at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
They won three of their four matches, and after finishing joint first with Repton School, took the title on overall runs scored.
However, their hopes of a treble this season were dashed at the semi-final stage of the School Sport Magazine National T20 Cup competition.
They reached the last four before losing to St Swithuns School by 45 runs, after being dismissed for 129 chasing 175 to win.
Former South African international Nicky Boje has been head of cricket at Ipswich School for the past seven years.
Boje, who played 43 Tests and 115 one-day internationals for the Proteas, said: “I am so incredibly proud of the girls for reaching their second Finals Day – what an amazing achievement!
“A huge thank you to Conor Annand, their coach, for all his hard work, dedication and support with the girls. It’s fantastic to see their commitment and effort rewarded, and we can’t wait to see what they can achieve on Finals Day!
“We’re really looking forward to taking on Millfield in the semi-final – it’s always a great opportunity to test ourselves against one of the biggest and strongest cricketing schools in the country and see how we measure up.”
The winners will face either Repton School or Rugby School in the final in the afternoon.
“To become double national champions indoors and champions in one of the outdoor competitions would be an incredible achievement for the school and a real testament to the girls’ talent, hard work and dedication.
“It would put the school firmly among the very best cricketing schools in the country and be something everyone involved could be hugely proud of,” added Boje.
